| A very reduced number of birds nest in Barcelona. Most individuals, however, are seen in winter, when Barcelona attracts large numbers from colder lands. This is a small insectivore with unassuming colours: ash-grey in males and brown in females. The dull colours are broken by its orange tail which the bird wags up and down when perched.
It has a predilection for cliffs and rocky sites, and so in Barcelona is most often seen perched on top of walls, balconies and roof terraces. It nests in holes in walls, under rocks and under the eaves of caves and buildings.
